Look Where You Want to Go
A white-water rafting guide will only point in the direction they want the crew to paddle towards because there is no time to stop and explain, “we want to avoid those rocks over there and that downed tree.” If the guide draws the crew’s attention to what they need to avoid, the boat will crash into the object; because the boat will always go where everyone looks. One person to guide, everyone else needs to trust and react.
An example of exquisite blind trust can be seen in a dog chasing a ball. The dog will only stare at the ball as it chases the target until it is caught. It is the job of the person throwing the ball to ensure they do not throw the ball into traffic or unsafe situations, as the dog’s level of trust and determination scores a perfect ten out of ten.
It is the same thing with riding a motorcycle or a horse, only this time you have dual jobs of both a leader and reactor. The bike and horse will magically go where its rider looks. Spend too much time being aware of where you don’t want to go, and you will never hit the exact target of where you do want to go.
Why tell a story like this? What does it mean?
In life, we often get caught staring or talking too much about objects or things we don’t want to go towards and then end up crashing into them.
It is good to be aware issues, or dangerous situations are out there; but if you focus on them, you will never get where you want to go.
Have a purpose, and then paddle like hell because your life depends on it, run with blind passion and trust, ride with freedom and flow, and do whatever you have to do to get there.
